VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Visakhapatnam Port Trust and National Thermal Power Corporation have committed themselves to contribute Rs 50 crore over a period of five years for the development of King George Hospital (KGH), under their corporate social responsibility, member of Rajya Sabha T Subbarami Reddy said.Further, the first international flight from city to Dubai is to take off on March 25, member of Rajya Sabha said while addressing mediapersons here on Sunday and adding that Union minister for civil aviation Ajit Singh has consented to launch the first flight.The Rs 50 crore would be utilised for constructing five floors of 1.25 lakh square feet to accommodate surgical and medical oncology (cancer) facility, intensive care unit for respiratory, medical neonatal and paediatric ailments.This is a major achievement for the people of Visakhapatnam.Cancer care will be available for people of Visakhapatnam and North Coastal Andhra for the first time in government sector, he said. He said that he had held extensive discussions with Union tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahay and asked him to release funds for the development of tourism in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. He said that the region is likely to get a grant of Rs 1,700 crore for the development of tourism.T Subbarami Reddy Lalitha Kala Parishad would felicitate film maker K Viswanath with ‘Viswa Vikhyatha Darsaka Sarvabhouma’ and also felicitate president of the Pradesh Congress Committee Botcha Satyanarayana on the occasion of Maha Sivarathri Kumbabhishekam in the city on Monday.Union minister for petroleum and natural gas S Jaipal Reddy is the chief guest of the programme. Dada Saheb Phalke award winner D Rama Naidu, cine actors K Brahmanandam, cine dancers Manju Bhargavi, Bhanupriya and cine artist Tulasi are expected to attend the programme, he said.
