HYDERABAD: It’s that time of the year again, when love is in the air. Valentine’s Day always gives you many more reasons to please your love. So what if it’s a working day this year! On one side, while couples in the city are gearing up to plan their dates and gifts to please their loved one’s, here are a bunch of 'singles' who are also planning to spend it with a group of friends, and make it equally special. They have a few examples too to draw inspiration from like Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge’s, who is planning a day with friends after splitting up with her long-term boyfriend. She also suggested ways for transforming the day into a festival for groups of pals, like throwing a Valentine-themed party for friends and hanging some heart decorations around the room for the extra kitsch-factor. Spending his day in a similar fashion, is a content writer, Navjot Singh, who says, “I don’t have to wake up early in the morning to take anybody out for brunch. I'll wake up by 11 am, have a nice lunch at home after which, I'll go to a house party, for a little booze and dance. My day is done.” Some will be utilising this time to its fullest, to know their special friend even better. An MBA student, Abhijit shares, “I will be inviting my friend home to help me with my semester project. So, we can even spend time together and get more comfortable with each other. I just want to have a nice time with her.” However, some prefer to be working on the day. Like analyst, Ankush Khandelwal. “Luckily I am single and I will be working, since it is a Monday.” Aniketh Yadav, the bass player from Shock Therapy says, “I think it is a really stupid day. I don’t like Valentine’s day, it’s a day for all gift shop guys to capitalize on.”Twiiter profile pages like Anti-Valentine’s Day are dedicated to the celebration of singledom. The page says, “For all people who do not have a significant other, this is the day to meet with other singles. No Couples!”
