Ritual at Hassan too

HASSAN:The Subrahmanya temple at Ramanathapura in Hassan district also observed made made snana on Friday where  around 50 Brahmins rolled over leaves left over by other Brahmins and carried them over their heads. The custom is held during the car festival. Subbanna from Bangalore said the ritual helps get rid of skin ailments and said people can’t be stopped from practising it as it is their belief. Seetaram and Keshava the chief priests said it is an old practice but said that the temple and priests don’t force devotees to practise it.
