CHENNAI: A writ plea has been made in the Madras High Court for a direction to the Tamil Nadu Government to restart the works for a government medical college at Kunnam village in Perambalurbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam, before which the public interest wri district.The first Bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqt petition from advocate S Palanimu-thu of Saidapet, a native of Perambalur district, came up on Wednesday, posted the matter after four weeks to enable the government to file a counter-affidavit.The government had earmarked `100 crore for the medical college in the 2010-11 budget. The Andimuthu Chinnapillai Tru-st had donated 30 acres towards it. However, after the State Assembly elections, work was stopped and it appears that the plan was dropped by the present government. The reason was that A Raja (DMK) was elected from the Perambalur Lok Sabha constituency and S Siva-sankar (DMK) was elected from the Kunnam Assembly constituency, the petitioner alleged.
