BANGALORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa got some relief from the High Court as it granted him anticipatory bail in a complaint pertaining to awarding of tenders in the Upper Bhadra project. Hearing the anticipatory bail plea by Yeddyurappa, Justice H Billappa granted him conditional bail and ordered him to furnish a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh, appear before the jurisdictional court within 10 days and cooperate with the investigations. The court also ordered him not to leave the country without its permission and warned him against tampering with evidence.Justice Bilappa also warned that if bail conditions were violated, the Lokayukta court will take suitable action against him.JD(S) spokesman Y S V Datta on July 27, 2011, had filed a complaint against Yeddyurappa stating that a tender was given to RNS Infrastructure from which Yeddyurappa’s trust had received Rs 13 crore as kickback. Fearing arrest, Yeddyurappa had moved the High Court for anticipatory bail.Appealing against granting bail, counsel for Lokayukta M T Nanaiah said the accused, being a former CM and still influential, can destroy evidence and influence witnesses who are government servants. Earlier Ravi B Naik, counsel for Yeddyurappa, submitted that there were no irregularities in awarding contracts and presented documents.
