CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the Inspector (Special Cell) of the  District Central Crime Branch (land grabbing) in Tiruvallur district, to register an FIR on a complaint against an individual, who allegedly conspired with the wife of former DMK Union Minister NVN Somu to grab two acres of land belonging to a farmer in Kummanoor near Redhills.Justice T Mathivanan, who gave the direction while passing orders on a criminal original petition from D Munuswamy, directed the Inspector to hold investigation and file the final report within six weeks, if a prima facie case was made out. He also directed the Tiruvallur Superintendent of Police to monitor the investigation and see to it that the chargesheet was filed within the stipulated time of six weeks. According to advocate Abudukumar Rajarathinam, Munusamy purchased 85 cents from Durai Babu in September, 1993. But no sale deed was executed as he could not pressure Durai Babu, who was a big landlord and an influential person. But the land was in Duraisamy’s possession and he was carrying on agricultural activities, his only livelihood, from 1993.The sale deed was, however, registered in August 2004 and a new patta number was assigned to him in February 2005. All records carried his name.
