New Delhi: Red Bull will announce the countdown to the inaugural Indian Grand Prix with a Speed Street event in the national capital on October 1 when a Red Bull Racing Formula One car will zip down the historical Rajpath.
After Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard became the first person to drive a Formula 1 car in India back in 2009, Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo will strut his stuff this time around. As the lights turn green, he'll press the pedal to the metal and zip down a 1km stretch, giving New Delhi the true F1 experience.
Red Bull Speed Street will see the Formula One car on the Rajpath road at 2 PM. The event is being held under the aegis of Union Ministry of Tourism and Confederations of Indian Industries.
With its engine screaming and tyres burning in F1 style onto the streets of Delhi, there will be glamour, thrills and excitement.
The afternoon will also see performances by some of India's leading motorsport talents in freestyle biking as well as four-wheel drifting.
Red Bull Speed Street will also be the site of the Indian finals of Red Bull Racing Can. Winners of the Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune rounds of the competition will battle it out to determine India's fastest can on a remote controlled chassis. The winners will move to the global finals at the Red Bull Racing factory in Milton Keynes, UK.
