BANGALORE: Around 2,000 teachers working in government run preuniversity colleges came together at Freedom Park on Monday demanding the immediate implementation of the pending pay revisions.
MLC Ganesh Karnik attended a meeting with them later and assured them that the State Government would soon respond positively to their request. Representatives of the PU teachers had explained at a press meet earlier that they had raised the issue of pending pay revisions from the IV and V pay commissions.

"I was working as a college lecturer but moved to preuniversity in a governmentrun college. The pay scales at that time were the same. But, the earlier Pay Commissions were implemented for college teachers while preuniversity teachers were left behind. Are we being punished for our choices?" questions Parashuramana Gowda, a PU teacher.

'No clues'

The teachers said that if the VI pay commission is implemented without earlier pay commissions considered, their pay scale disparity would become huge and will have an immediate impact on the education system.
