The Thrissur Vigilance Court on Thursday ordered a probe into the irregularities at Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University for Art and Culture in Thrissur.
While considering a petition filed by Sujoby Jose, coordinator of the Kerala Human Rights Samiti, Vigilance Court Judge V Bhaskaran ordered a vigilance probe against 12 present and former office-bearers of the Kalamandalam, including the present Vice-Chancellor of the university. In his petition, Sujoby Jose said that the authorities have not initiated any steps after the audit report of the university had found financial irregularities to the tune of `7 crore. “The Kalamandalam has also not used properly the huge grants it got from various governments during 1999-2012 period,” he said. The vigilance court has also ordered the inquiry team to inspect the audit reports of the university and submit its report in three months.
The accused are Kalamandalam Vice-Chancellor P N Suresh, Kalamandalam registrar Dr K N Suresh, former Kalamandalam secretaries N Radhakrishnan Nair, Kalpatta Balakrishnan, Balachandran Vadakkedathu and Dr N R Gramaprakash; former vice-chancellors K G Paulose and Dr J Prasad; former chairman Dr V R Prabodhana Chandran, former accountant Lakshmi Devi, senior superintendent V Kaladharan and former accountant N Gopakumar.
