Police to take DNA samples of Laila's grandmother
Toxicology test will be done to find out if key accused Parveez Tak had poisoned the victims.

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Laila Khan's grandmother will be crucial to solve the murder case of Laila and her family as her DNA samples would ascertain the identity of skeletons found at Igatpuri, Nashik, police said on Friday.

"We will request Laila's grandmother to give her DNA samples," joint commissioner of police (crime) Himanshu Roy said.

Besides, toxicology test will be done to find out if key accused Parveez Tak had poisoned the victims. If we find out that he has, then it becomes a fit case of pre-meditated offence, he said.

Roy also informed that the two vehicles seized by the Jammu and Kashmir police will be brought to Mumbai to find out if there are any blood stains on it as Tak had claimed that he himself was injured in the process of killing the family.

Roy further said that the doctors are reconstructing the skeleton parts to confirm the identity of different bodies though it is a difficult task given that Laila, her sister Azmina and Zara were of more or less same age group.

Roy also said that if needed they will also request the DNA sample of Laila's biological father Nadir Patel.

Tak is accused of killing Shelina (51), Laila (30), her elder sister Azmina (32), twin siblings, Zara and Imran (25) and cousin Reshma over property and other disputes. The family had gone missing in February 2011 from Mumbai.
