Police arrest Maoist in Chakradharpur

An alleged hardcore Maoist ultra by the name of Passing Diggi has been arrested at Chakradharpur in the Naxal-affected West Singhbhum district, police said.

Said to be a close aide of squad head Prasadji, Diggi, who is also known by the aliases of Rahul and Kunda, confessed during interrogation about having recruited around 10 persons into CPI(Maoist), said Chakradharpur SDPO Surendra Kumar Jha.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed Diggi from the Bada Bazar area, Jha said, adding that one country-made pistol, live cartridges and a mobile phone were seized from his possession.

Diggi had been jailed in connection with a Naxalism case in 2009 but was released later, said Jha.
