BANGALORE: The team from Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is re-inspecting the Metro construction sites. The Palike had told the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to take up road repair works at all the stretches by September 25.The mayor and her team had visited the areas in the first week of September. They visited arterial roads that included Mysore Road, West of Chord Road, Mahakavi Kuvempu Road and Chord Road, and given a deadline to BMRCL to repair the roads that have been reduced to a deplorable state owing to the metro construction.Speaking with City Express, deputy mayor Harish said, “They (BMRCL) have completed almost 90 per cent of the work.We will re-inspect the same spots this week to check. They will be given a warning if they fail to execute the repair,” he said. With the Palike receiving hundreds of complaints from the public about the broken roads caused due to the ongoing Metro work, the mayor had even called a meeting with the BMRCL chief engineers and directed them to fill the potholes. However they have still not finished the work.Later, the mayor along with the deputy mayor and other officials, corporators inspected and also warned the BMRCL.The ongoing metro work not only damaged roads, but also distracted sanitary pipes and electrical poles.“Though it was BMRCL fault, it is easy for people to blame it on the BBMP.We are at the receiving ends,” an official from BBMP said
