Pakistan prisoner Sanaullah's health worsens
Sanaullah Haq who was attacked in a Jammu jail remains in deep coma.

Chandigarh: Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Haq's condition has worsened and he remains in deep coma, the doctors said. Sanaullah was attacked in a Jammu jail last week. His family is hoping to visit him in hospital in Chandigarh.

The Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Monday granted visas for visiting India to two of Sanaullah's relatives. The visa applications of Sanaullah's brother-in-law and cousin were received at the Indian High Commission at 7:30 pm (local time), official sources said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani High Commissioner Salman Bashir visited Sanaullah on Monday and demanded an impartial probe into the attack. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah says action has been taken against authorities at the Kot Balwal Jail where the attack occurred.

59-year-old Sanaullah, a resident of Sialkot in Pakistan, is serving a life term after being convicted under TADA provisions following his arrest in 1999. He was injured during a scuffle in high-security Kot Balwal jail in Jammu on Friday and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Hospital and later rushed to PGIMER in Chandigarh in an air ambulance after doctors said his condition was critical.

He was attacked a day after the death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, who was brutally assaulted by six inmates in Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail.
