One held for smuggling 1.2 kg of gold biscuits

THOOTHUKUDI: Officials of Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 1.2 kg of gold biscuits on Tuesday, which were smuggled from Colombo, hidden inside the rectum of a woman.The officials had received a tip off that gold biscuits were being smuggled to India by a woman passenger on board the Thoothukudi-Colombo ferry.  During immigration check, officials found behaviour of Keteeswari (42), of Tiruchy, doubtful.  On interrogation she handed over four gold biscuits at the port but the officials took her to a private hospital for a full body scan.  Later the DRI officials  found 11 gold biscuits weighing 1.2 kg, which are estimated to be worth ` 30 lakh. Keteeswari was arrested and further investigations are on.
