Olympian Randhir gets ANOC Award
The award was conferred on Randhir Singh, who has represented India in six consecutive Olympics, for contribution to Asian sports.

New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association General Secretary Randhir Singh has been awarded the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Merit Award by the Olympic Council of Asia.

The ANOC bestowed the honour on Singh, a member of the International Olympic Committee, during its General Assembly at Seoul, Korea, which took place from March 31 to April 5.

The award was conferred on Singh, who also holds top offices in the OCA and the Commonwealth Games Federation, for outstanding contribution to Asian sports and in particular for successful staging of the 1st Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad in 2003.

Singh also led a delegation to campaign for the 2014 Asian Games bid at the meeting. Incheon (Korea) is the other city in the fray and the final decision in this regard will be made in December this year in Doha during the Asian Games.

Randhir Singh represented India at six consecutive Olympic Games and also won a gold medal in shooting at the 1978 Bangkok Asian Games.
