Oliver Twist, the famous classic by Charles Dickens, is being adapted into Malayalam celluloid.

Kochi Oliver Twist, the famous classic by Charles Dickens, is being adapted into Malayalam celluloid. Dickens work, set in 1836, tells the tale of a street urchin, Oliver Twist.

Twist appears in Malayalam witnessing the many epoch making social changes. But it does not repeat the old story, says the film's debut director, Sathish Paul V Raaj.

Udaya Raj, the child actor who won the national award for his role in the tamil feature film Nilakalam, is playing the lead role of the urchin in the film also titled Oliver Twist.

Malayalam film director, Thampi Kannanthanam, will be essaying the role of Antony Louis, the strict disciplinarian of the Juvenile Home. This is Kannanthanam's first film as an actor.

The story and screenplay is by Vijaykumar V, while the producer of the film is V K K Panicker. The film, which will be shot at Vagamon and Kuttikanam from October 25, is expected to be released by December.
