HYDERABAD: Giving a reprieve to those visiting the Exhibition Grounds and getting fleeced by parking contractors, the city police have decided to fix parking rates for two and four-wheelers. The decision was taken after a meeting between police officials, officials of Exhibition Society and parking lot allottees on Wednesday after a series of complaints regarding the extra fees being charged for parking vehicles. The parking allottees reportedly told police they were charging upto `150 for cars and `50 for two-wheelers as the AP Housing Board had auctioned parking spaces in the nearby government building at unusually high rates.Apart from this, the parking organisers should display flexi boards at mentioning the parking fees at prominent places and entrances on the ground. The phone numbers of law and order and traffic police should also be displayed.Officials also said the ticket issued should compulsorily mention the name of the parking lot, which is not being done presently. The parking contractors should have a common uniform like vest/jacket so that the public know they are the ones handling the matter. The parking lot managers will also be solely responsible for protection of vehicles.
