No remarks on Jats in text books: Arjun
Arjun Singh assures Haryana CM that the derogatory remarks against Jats in NCERT text books would be removed.

New Delhi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh has assured Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda that the derogatory remarks against Jat community in the text books published by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) would be removed with immediate effect.

Singh said in addition to this, if any derogatory remarks against any caste and community were found published in NCERT text books, they would also be removed.

The Minister gave this assurance when Hooda, leading a delegation, met him in the Capital on Sunday evening.

Hooda said necessary guidelines be issued to the departments concerned to ensure that such a thing does not happen further, which hurt the sentiments of people.

The delegation apprised the Minister about the resentment in the Jat community due to publication of such comments.

The members of the delegation included Delhi's Health Minister Dr Yoga Nand Shastri, member of Parliament from outer Delhi Sajjan Kumar, member of Rajya Sabha Harender Malik, former member of Parliament Sona Ram Chaudhry and President of All India Jat Mahasabha Virender Singh.
