CHENNAI: DMK treasurer M K Stalin, who turns 60 on March 1, has appealed to the cadre not to celebrate his birthday, but provide welfare measures to the poor and needy, here on Saturday.According to a release, Stalin requested party cadre to observe his birthday as ‘Youth Rise Day’. “The past eight months have seen many woes in the state, including the hike in milk prices and bus fare and without proper implementation of welfare schemes,” he charged. “Since cases have been filed against DMK men to satiate political vendetta, it is not the time to celebrate my birthday,” Stalin said.It maybe recalled that his elder brother and Union Minister Alagiri celebrated his 62 birthday on Jan 30 sans fanfare.
