New Delhi: The main accused in the Nithari serial killings case, Surendra Koli was produced in the Patiala House court in the Capital on Wednesday, so that his confessional case could be recorded.

Koli is the prime accused in the murder of nearly 40 children in Noida's Nithari village.

Surender Koli has been sent to Tihar jail for solitary confinement for one night.

He will be produced before the Patiala House court on Thursday once more.

He and his employer, Moninder Singh Pandher have been accused of sexually abusing the children, before brutally killing them.

The grisly case has taken many twists and turns since then with allegations like necrophilia, organ trade and cannibalism doing the rounds.

Badly shaken by the ghoulish serial killings, several families living in Nithari village have started fleeing the area.

On February 15, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) jumped into the fray demanding to know why only 19 cases had been registered when media reports stated that at least 38 children were missing from the area.

The acting chairman of NHRC, Justice Shivraj V Patil had said that the concerned authorities had to provide an answer to this.

"It is a cause of grave concern and a serious violation of human rights," he had stated.
