Mumbai: While the Maharashtra Women's Commission had demanded action within 24 hours in the Preity Zinta molestation case, Mumbai Police on Sunday wrote to the panel saying it needed more time to investigate the matter.
The Mumbai Police wrote to the state Women's Commission on the case. It informed the panel that the actress' statements could not be recorded as she was in the US.
Reports now say the police will send an e-mail to the actress urging her to record her statement at the earliest.
So far, the police have recorded statements of a few witnesses and is likely to take down some more eye witness accounts in the coming days.
Actress Priety Zinta on Sunday named two witnesses to back her charges of molestation against ex boyfriend and co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab team in the Indian Premier League Ness Wadia. According to sources, she named the witnesses before leaving for the US. The Mumbai Police is trying to get in touch with the witnesses who have been named.
