BANGALORE: Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj presented the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) and Karnataka State Printers Association awards here on Friday.This was the sixth edition of the National Awards for E x c e l l e n c e i n Print (NAEP).The awards sought to recognise excellence in the printing industry and gave awards to printers from all over the country in three main categories.T h e s e c a t e g o r i e s comprised than 32 sub-sections like posters, packaging, office stationary, best exporters, diaries, calendars and many more.Also present on the occasion were MLA Vijaykumar and Vijaykumar Chopra, former chairman PTI.Speaking on the occassion, the Governor said that he was very happy to see the progress taking place in the printing industry.“The industry has come of age,” he said explaining the importance of print media by adding, “Newspapers offer a high volume of news that electronic media cannot keep up with, print media cannot be replaced.” “The Star Printer of India is the highest awards in the country, it is prestigious, we have cultural programmes today besides the awards ceremony,” said Ravindra Joshi, General Secretary, AIFMP.The prelude to the awards function contained a spirited set of performances by t h e Abhinava Dance academy duo of Nirupama Rajendra.
