New Delhi: India-US partnerships are set to expand in an ambitious way as US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are set to meet for the first time on June 26, said White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
In his announcement of the decision for which he received a global condemnation, Trump had blamed India and China for the US withdrawal.
"India makes its participation contingent on receiving billions and billions of dollars from developed countries," he had said.
Trump and Modi have, in the past, however showered praises on each other at various occasions.
During his campaign, Trump had praised Modi as a "great leader" and sought a kinship of ideas with him as a "pro-growth leader" when he had attended a rally organised by the Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC) in New Jersey in October. He had added that after his election India would have true friend in the White House.
Modi and Trump have parallel priorities of job creation, especially through manufacturing, and increasing investments which may appear headed for a collision.
