Nanpara police suspends constable over rape charges

A UP police constable has been suspended after he was booked for allegedly raping a woman in Bahraich district, a senior police official said on Wednesday.

A woman had accused constable Santosh posted at Nanpara police station of raping her. Based on her complaint an FIR was lodged against him, Superintendent of Police Mohit Gupta said.

He said that the constable has been placed under suspension and the matter was being probed.
