In less than a week of suspending water supply in surrounding areas, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced another water cut across the city this month.
According to BMC’s official statement as stated by Mid-Day, a 16-hour water cut along with a low-pressure supply has been announced for May 22 and 23. This will mainly affect residents in the K East, K West and P South wards due to maintenance work involving the connection of main water lines and the removal of old damaged lines.
The infrastructural work is being aimed at improving the water supply in the Andheri East and West, Jogeshwari East and West, and Vile Parle East and West areas, thus causing disruption in these regions for 16 hours.
With that said, the repair work will commence at 9 AM on May 22 and conclude at 1 AM on May 23. While some areas will have a complete halt in water supply, others might face lower water pressure. The civic body has also shared details of the affected areas that will have zero supply:
1. K/East – Tripathi Nagar, Munshi Colony, Bastiwala Compound, Collector Colony, Durga Nagar, Matoshree Club
2. K/East – Durga Nagar, Sariput Nagar
3. K/East – Datta Tekdi, Oberoi Splendor, Kelti Pada, Premises near Ganesh Mandir Jogeshwari–Vikhroli Link Road
4. K/East – Bandrekar Wadi, Fransiswadi, Makhrani Pada, Subhash Road, Chacha Nagar
5. K/East – Bandra Plot, Hari Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Shankarwadi,Pascal Colony
6. It has also cautioned citizens to store sufficient water and use it carefully to avoid waste. “As a precautionary measure, citizens are requested to filter the water and use it after boiling for the next 4 to 5 days,” the BMC said.
