HYDERABAD: Has A Amarender Reddy, personal assistant to minister for BC welfare Mukesh Goud, influenced higher officials to escape police custody in the case of his wife's murder?Addula Amarender Reddy, who is still at large, is trying to 'settle' the issue amicably with his in-laws and got in touch with some 'elders' of Mamata's family in this regard, it is learnt. "We did not arrest Amarender Reddy. A special team comprising senior police officials has been constituted to nab him," said Medipally inspector S Krishna Prasad.Mamta Reddy (26), wife of Amarender, died under suspicious circumstances at her residence under Medipally police station limits on Thursday. Mamta married Amarender Reddy in December last year and her parents reportedly gave her `8 lakh in cash, 25 tolas of gold and 50 kg of silver ornaments at the time of the marriage.Police said Mamta's parents alleged that her husband and other in-laws harassed her for an additional dowry of Rs 10 lakh as they wanted to perform the marriage of her sister-in-law.Amarender is alleged to have influenced higher officials to evade arrest till he sorted out the issue with his in-laws. "We will arrest the accused as per the complaint lodged by Mamta's parents and investigate the case further," a police official said.Meanwhile, Amarender has agreed to return the dowry which his family members had taken at the time of his marriage to Mamta.
