The concept of TV show 'Udaan' isn't new to esteemed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. As he had stated in recent interviews, he had thought of making a film 'Girvi' based on bonded labour with Pooja Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in key roles years back. But since the market had undergone a drastic change and only entertainment films were being promoted, it wasn't easy for films like 'Girvi' dealing with a grim reality of Indian society, to see the light of the day. Years later, Mahesh's unfinished film 'Girvi' is adapted as TV series and the viewers are interested in knowing more about the issues of bonded labour and the concept of mortgaging unborn child.
