BANGALORE: Senior Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa said that following the success of its 60-day campaign Congress Nadige Janara Balige, the party would follow it up with a soon-to-be launched monthlong training programme.Addressing the press here on Saturday, Thimmappa that during the programme all 7,42,247 members who are also party office-bearers at the base level would undergo training on the party’s programmes and policies.He said that a committee has been formed under the leadership of former legislator Mahima Patel comprising V R Sudarshan, Dr Rajiv Gowda, Hasanabba and Dr Krupa Alva.“The committee is entrusted to draw-up the process of training to over seven lakh party representatives.” Karnataka in-charge for the IYC elections Arivalagan said here on Saturday that after scrutinisng the voters list as many as 4,58,103 members were found eligible to cast their votes.Submission of nomination papers would start on Sept 11 and 12 followed by distribution of symbols for the contesting members on Sept 14 and 15 and conduction of elections in 18,951 booths between September 16 and 21.He termed the programme as an “exercise to convert the mass-based Congress party into a cadrebased organistion”.
