KOCHI: Reports that eight self-financing engineering colleges have given admission to ineligible candidates for the academic term 2011-12 has come to the notice of Justice Mohammed Committee, according to a release by admission supervisory committee. That many students who have not obtained 50 per cent marks in maths have secured seats in some colleges will be looked into, it said.If the reports are proved right, the admissions are illegal and against some sections of Act 19 of 2006, it said.The committee has decided to send a notification asking the eight colleges to give the required explanation within four days. The explanations will be studied during the meeting of Admission Supervisory Committee scheduled on November 29 in Kochi. The management heads of the colleges should present themselves before the committee, it said. Owing to the above reasons, all self-financing colleges should examine whether there are any flaws in the admission procedures and send a report, it said.
