Ministers panel to suggest rehab package

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Land acquisition for expanding the Karamana-Kalayikkavila National Highway (NH) stretch will be completed once an appropriate rehabilitation package can be drafted on the basis of the new rehabilitation policy of the State Government, PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju told the Assembly on Tuesday.  The package can be shaped only on the basis of the recommendations of a sub-committee of Ministers appointed to examine the draft rehabilitation policy, he said.  The state government had, on May 27, 2010, given in-principle agreement for widening the Karamana-Kalayikkavila stretch into a four-lane road. It was announced then that the project would be implemented on a fast-track mode.
