MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi yet to be chargesheeted in a hate-speech case against BJP
Two FIRs were registered against Owaisi for making hate speeches in 2010 and in 2013 in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: In a startling revelation, the Hyderabad police have not filed any chargesheet, even after registering a FIR on January 2, 2013, against Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for making hate speech in a public meeting in 2012.

As per law, if the investigation officers failed to file a chargesheet in the court within a span of 36 months from the date of registration of the FIR, the accused will be eligible for a discharge petition in the court under Section 468 of the CrPC.

Owaisi made the first hate speech in 2010 and the second in January 2013. Two FIRs were registered against him but now it came to know through a RTI enquiry that no chargesheet has been filed.

In the second case, it was found that the case was transferred from the Nizamabad court to the Hyderabad court and then handed over to the CID. However, CID officers refused to divulge anything in the matter.

There are allegations that the Telangana cops went slow in the case after Owaisi allegedly made defamatory and derogatory comments against people of a specific community naming BJP and RSS in Adilabad in 2012.

Telangana police sources said that they are still waiting for the forensic reports of Owaisi's hate speech video.
