KOCHI: While the medical fraternity is divided over the compulsory rural service (CRS) norm and the students are on a warpath against it, here is an aspiring doctor who is looking forward to serve the rural folks!    Shilpa M Paul, who bagged the first rank in the Kerala Medical Entrance Examination, interestingly prefers to work in rural areas after completing the course.“I’m very particular about my career. I come from a remote area and  I would like to work for the rural people,” she said.Shilpa, the only girl in the top ten, said that she would like to opt the Kozhikode Medical College as she had heard a lot of good things about the college. Notably, she secured the top rank in her second attempt and her rank was 3,300 last year.Attributing her success to hard work and determination, Shilpa said that she was much interested in becoming a doctor. She is thankful to her parents and teachers for their support and encouragement. On getting the first rank, Shilpa said though she hoped to grab one of the first ten ranks, she had never thought of becoming the topper.“It took a while to sink in. I did not expect that I could be the best,” she added. Shilpa is the daughter of Paulose M O, superintendent of Kothamangalam sub-treasury and Sheela, a native of Varappetty in Kothamangalam.
