Deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha has announced that a medical college will be set up in Sangareddy with an estimated expenditure of Rs 150 crore.
He directed the district collector to send the proposals to the state government without any delay.
Addressing a gathering at a programme held marking the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi here on Monday, he called upon the youth to follow Rajiv's ideology and play a key role in the reconstruction of India.
Rajiv Gandhi had a clear vision about education, technology, rural development and launched several programmes when he was the prime minister.
"Following Rajiv's principles, his son, Rahul Gandhi is also serving people and we should strengthen his leadership.
"Earlier, he garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in Rajiv Park.
Later, speaking to mediapersons, the deputy chief minister said that the government had decided to take up development activity in a big way in Medak district as it was earlier represented by late prime minister Indira Gandhi in Lok Sabha.
He hoped that the medical college will become a reality before 2014 general elections.
On minister Dharmana's resignation, Rajanarasimha said the chief minister or the AICC leadership were competent to comment on the issue.
The deputy CM came to Sangareddy after a long gap and local MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy, considered to be a strong supporter of the CM accompanied him.
