HYDERABAD: He’s well-built for his age. But he is no weight-lifter as such. He aims to be much more. Nothing less than a Guinness Record holder. Mangi Kishore Kumar, an under-graduate, from Ziaguda on Sunday did the unthinkable. He pulled an empty truck weighing 6,800 tonnes (6,800,000 kg) with his ears up to a distance of 5.2 meters! The man, who won the India Book of Records, Global World Record and Bharat ki Kohinoor Record for his remarkable feats, has pinned his hopes on his latest adventure to get his name into the Guinness Book of World Records. In pulling the lorry at a crowded venue at Ziaguda here, he beat his own record of nudging a safari car weighing 3,500 kg with his ears. The 22-year-old pulled off the feat in his third attempt after facing some difficulty in his first two attempts. “I have always loved being adventurous and doing something different. Getting into the Guinness Book of World Records is my dream, and I hope I have strong chances this time,” a confident Kishore told City Express.“A lot of people have tried to pull weights through eye-lids, teeth and what not. Once I lifted a 25-kg weight through a hole bored in my left nail. It was fun, but then I thought I should start doing it with my ear,” Kishore recalled. He has till date lifted two gas cylinders, one with each ear, dragged an Indica, a jeep, a scorpio and of course, the safari and the lorry. The second-year B.Com student at the Keshav Memorial Degree College is also an expert in Taekwondo which he has been learning for 10 years. He has also participated in the nationals in the 85-95 kg category at the Rajiv Gandhi Open National Tournament. Presently, he is teaching Taekwondo at the Global Taekwondo Academy. But how does he pull cars and lorries with ears? “There is no fixed diet, nor is there a preparation exercise for ears. All that we have to take care of preparation-wise are the equipment and safety measures,” he explained. Kishore’s ears were clasped between two small wooden-size slabs with a sponge lining and were fixed to his ears through screws. “I used to practice for fours everyday with my trainer to get comfortable with them,” he said.Kishore and his trainer Santosh Kumar Maltumkar have been associated for almost 11 years. Santosh himself is a Teakwondo black belt and has also been included in the Limca Book of World Records for breaking a glass plank of 2 mm with his head, on hand stand. Expressing his happiness, Santosh said, “I am very proud of Kishore. He will bring many more laurels to the city.” Surprisingly, there were no officials from the Guinness World Records Organisation at the venue, to measure or calculate the event. To this the trainer, Santosh said, “I had contacted them through an email. Accordingly, we had to post the clippings online and the officials will then be examining the clippings. If they are not satisfied with the way it has been conducted, they will re-conduct the entire event and then proceed with the certification.”Kishore’s mother Mangi Jyothi was ecstatic. “He was always passionate about doing stunts since he was six. I am glad he is doing what he loves. He is setting standards high for himself with every task.” Kishore has participated in television shows like Entertainment ke liye kuch bhi karegaa on Sony TV and Sahasam Cheyyara Dimbaka on a local channel. He has now set his sights and “ears” on an aeroplane and will soon be seen attempting it.
