Yanam police have arrested a private security agency employee of the Yanam stadium for attempt at molesting a nine-year-old girl on Thursday.
According to police, K Annavaram (45), who was working as the watchman of the GMC Balayogi stadium, befriended Leena (name changed), and took her to a bathroom and tried to molest her after the Independence Day function at the stadium.
The girl managed to escape and reached home, when her mother noticed the crying girl and took her to the police station. After hearing the mother, sub-inspector Shanmugham of the Yanam station arrested Annavaram and a case was registered against him suo moto, as the girl’s mother refused to submit a written complaint, said Superintendent of police, Monika Bharadwaj, over phone.
The accused had been remanded to judicial custody under Section 354 of IPC.
