Bowenpally police arrested a maid and her accomplice in connection with a theft case here on Saturday. Police recovered gold and diamond ornaments weighing about 507 grams, worth Rs 20 lakh, from them. The accused are Koppula Laxmi (31), a resident of Kattelamandi at Netajinagar in New Bowenpally and her associate, Gunda Tataji alias Balaj (27), a car driver and resident of RTC Colony in Trimulgherry.
On June 16, S Raghava Reddy, a resident of New Bowenpally, lodged a complaint stating that gold and diamond jewellery worth `20 lakh were stolen from his house. During investigation, police closely watched the movements of Laxmi and found that the ex-maid had committed the offence. On interrogation, she confessed to committing the crime and revealed that she gave a major share of the stolen property to Tataji,” police said.
