PUDUCHERRY: Now all the outlying regions of the Union Territory will be headed by IAS officers. This follows the appointment and posting of two junior IAS officers as regional administrators of Mahe and Yanam. As per orders issued by the Lieutenant Governor, P Jawahar (AGMU 2007) serving as Sub-Collector (Revenue), North, has been posted as Regional Administrator for Yanam, while J Ashok Kumar(AGMU 2008) Sub-Collector (Revenue), Karaikal , has been posted as Regional Administrator for Mahe Already, another IAS officer, Franklin Laltinkhuma, has been serving as Collector of Karaikal.The government has taken the decision for administrative reasons as the adjoining districts in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are under Collectors who are IAS officers. Krishna Kumar Singh and A Vincent Rayar, the earlier regional administrators of Mahe and Yanam respectively, have been directed to report back to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms for further postings. The posts of Sub-Collector (Revenue) North and Karaikal, which have fallen vacant will get officers through a subsequent order, sources in the government said.
