Maharashtra to move HC in paedophile case
The Maharashtra govt proposes to move the Bombay HC against the manager of an orphanage accused of sodomy.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government proposes to move the Bombay High Court against William D'Souza, the manager of the Anchorage Shelter at Colaba, who is accused of sodomising children at the orphanage.

The state proposes to move the High Court in this matter since D'Souza has jumped parole, chief public prosecutor Satish Borulkar said.

D'Souza was on parole leave since October 7 last year but has still not returned.

The chief accused in Anchorage Shelter case is Duncan Grant who had founded the orphanage. He has been charged with sodomising, physically abusing and beating the children at the orphanage.

Allan Waters and D'Souza are co-accused in the case.

D'Souza was lodged in the Nagpur Central Jail following his conviction by a Sessions Court on March 18 last year.

Two petitions – one challenging his conviction and the second filed by the state for enhancing his sentence – are also pending before the High Court.
