BANGALORE: Following the murder of KAS officer S P Mahantesh, the High Court on Thursday registered a suo motu petition and issued notice to the Home Department and City Police Commissioner, and directed them to file a status report on the investigation on June 20.The High Court took congnizance of the offence straightaway and appointed Clifton D’Rozario as amicus curiae in the case and adjourned the petition for further hearing in the case.Deputy director of the Directorate of Co-operative Audit, S P Mahantesh (48), a KAS officer died after battling head injuries for about five days in Mallige Hospital on May 20, following an attack by unidentified assailants near Atria Hotel on Palace Road on May 15. Since he was the deputy director of the Directorate of Co-operative Audit, the housing societies’ role in the murder of Mahantesh is being suspected.Meanwhile, Home Minister R Ashok said the police are looking for four people from Kerala for his murder.
