Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Emmanuel Macron issued a joint statement on Saturday. Modi and Macron held talks to explore ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, including in the fields of defence, security, trade and investment. Both the countries signed 14 agreements. Earlier, Macron and his wife Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron were accorded a grand welcome by President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The French leader, who arrived last night on a four-day visit to India, will visit the Taj Mahal on Sunday and Modi’s constituency Varanasi on Monday. An agreement on the Jaitapur nuclear power plant, which is being built with French assistance, is also expected to be signed during the visit.
