BANGALORE: Three persons including a 75-year-old woman sustained severe injuries in an explosion due to leakage of LPG gas. The incident was reported in Pragathi Nagar off Chikkathogur Road in Electronics City in the wee hours of Friday. The intensity of the blast was so huge that three buildings were damaged in the incident. The injured have been identified as Shabbir (38), his brother Shakeel (28) and Puttamma (75), a resident of a neighbouring house. Shabbir and Shakeel were running a tea shop in front of their house.According to the police, Shabbir was using a commercial LPG cylinder at home. At around 5 am, he woke up to prepare tea and tried to lite the stove. The cylinder had an old rubber tube and the gas leaked through it, resulting in an explosion. Shakeel, who was still asleep, sustained severe injuries. Due to the blast, two neighbouring buildings were also damaged. As the roof of the neighbouring house collapsed, Puttamma, who was sleeping there, sustained multiple fractures in her leg. The neighbours, who woke up due to the loud sound, shifted the three to hospitals and informed the police.
