BHUBANESWAR: A pall of gloom descended on Gangapatna village on the outskirts of the City on Tuesday following twin suicides.The deceased have been identified as Subash Behera (22) and Jyotsnarani Sahoo (20), both residents of the village. They reportedly had an affair for the last three years.The boy was missing since Monday night. Family members of Subash made a futile search till inhabitants of the village found his body hanging from a tree near the upper primary school in the village. They informed the Chandaka Police who seized the body on Tuesday morning.Receiving information about Subash’s death, Jyotsnarani hanged herself from the ceiling fan of her room, said IIC, Chandaka Police Station, Gangadhar Dalai. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Police said a failed love affair led the two to take the extreme step. Cases have been registered.
