BANGALORE: A city-based advocate, Abraham, has filed a private complaint in the Lokayukta Special Court against three former chief ministers — S M Krishna (currently external affairs minister), Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy —and former director of Mines and Geology Dr Basappa Reddy, alleging that they had allowed illegal mining in the forest areas during their tenures. “On account of their decisions to allow illegal mining in forest area, the state has incurred a loss of several crores besides destruction of the flora and fauna,” the complaint stated. “This ecological destruction has had an ill effect on the future generation,” the advovates complainant also stated. The advocate also made several retired and serving officials, apart from the three former chief ministers, party in his complaint filed before Judge N K Sudheendra Rao on Wednesday.In his complaint, Abraham said that the Lokayukta report on illegal mining had also mentioned the names of Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy.Admitting the petition, Justice Sudheendra Rao asked Abraham to furnish more documents to the court. “If you provide necessary documents making out a prima facie case, then I will take a decision on December 2 to proceed an enquiry against the three chief ministers as well as the remaining persons,” Justice Rao added.
