THRISSUR: A man clad in an orange overcoat roaming around helping students at the venues of the State School Youth Festival would not elude one’s eyes. C K Polly, a man who has dedicated his life to serve others, is at the School Youth Festival venue for the first time offering a helping hand to the participants. “I am not an educated person and hence my thoughts are limited. I never thought I could be of any help to students. Now when the opportunity knocked, I grabbed it. I am really happy to help them,” he said. Polly feels glad that no untoward incidents occurred in the youth festival venues except some students fainting owing to dehydration. “It was his life experiences which propelled him to play the role of a social worker.” “There was a time when accidents haunted me one after another. My life came to a standstill as I used to get bed-ridden often. I could not lead normal life until I was 37. My leg injuries were too severe that I never thought I could walk like a normal human being. All these harsh experiences moulded me,” he said.
