Singapore: Life is 'peachy', republics are 'banana', but crime being 'lemony' - well, what can I say.

Singarahalli Chinnaswamy Manjaiah, an Indian, was in Singapore on a social visit pass. As if the 'social' visit was not enough, Manjaiah decided on doing something 'anti-social'.

He approached a 33-year-old housewife outside a shopping centre on March 2, a statement of facts filed by the prosecution said.

Manjaiah, 30, convinced the woman that he was a fortune teller and that she was possessed by a "kutty-satan", or little demon.

He told her she would die soon or become a prostitute if the kutty-satan was not removed by his prayer ritual at a cost of 263 Singapore dollars, the statement said.

Believing she was possessed, the woman met Manjaiah two days later and he took her to a quiet spot at a public housing complex to perform the ritual, it said.

Insisting that to cure her, he must rub a lemon all over her body, "the accused inserted his right hand into the complainant's sari and rubbed the lemon on the complainant's breasts, stomach, navel and vagina," the prosecution stated.

Unfortunately for Manjaiah, the woman realised her folly and the alleged exorcist's 'unholy intentions and charged him of molestation.

Manjaiah has been sentenced to nine months in jail and three strokes of the cane, court documents obtained on Tuesday said.

Manjaiah sobbed loudly when the subordinate court passed sentence on Monday, The Straits Times reported.
