HYDERABAD: The Left parties have demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to announce financial assistance to the state before his state visit on February 4 keeping in view the prevailing drought situation across the state. The parties have decided to write an open letter to the Prime Minister about the drought situation and also decided to organise protest programmes during the visit of Central team which has been touring the state since the last few days.Briefing newsmen of the deliberations of the 11 Left parties meeting held here on Saturday, CPM state secretary BV Raghavulu said though the state government declared 850 mandals as drought-hit but it failed to take up any programme to help the people.The meeting was attended by the CPM, CPI, CPI(ML) New Democracy, CPI(ML), MCPI(U), CPI(ML) Libertarian, ML Committee, SUCI (C), RSP and Forward Block. Raghavulu said they also discussed the Yanam situation and will send a fact-finding team to Yanam on Sunday.
