BANGALORE: Mohammad Musthafa, 42, father of 12-year-old Shabreen Taj, who died in the pool of Wonderla amusement park on Monday, has alleged that lack of live saver tubes in the pool resulted in his daughter’s death. Musthafa said, “Although I had not consented for my daughter’s excursion, I had to send her because the authorities in school had made it compulsory. Her friends revealed that Shabreen was playing in the middle of the waving pool, which is about two-feet deep along with 40 other children. But as there were only 15-20 life saver tubes, the girls fought with each other for the tubes. In the melee, a few girls fell on Shabreen and eventually she choked and succumbed.”Alleging that neither the lifeguards nor her teachers rushed to her rescue, Musthafa said that the child was left unattended for nearly 15 minutes.“Only after realising the situation was serious, Shabreen was shifted to Raja Rajeshwari Hospital, where she was declared brought dead,” he said.He accused that the incident was reported to the police only in the night. Denying the statements from the school that his daughter was ailing, Musthafa said that she was healthy and there was no way she would have drowned as she was about 5’5” tall.Musthafa and his wife Asma Nikath have a 9-year-old son Mohammed Ghouse, who is also a student of the same school.
