THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Labour Department will come up with a welfare scheme for IT employees in the state as part of the State Government’s one-year programme.The scheme will be made after considering suggestions from the representatives of the IT employees or any organisation associated with them.As part of the one-year programme, wage guarantee project will also be implemented by the department, which will ensure that minimum wages are distributed to the employees of various sectors. The e-payment facility will be implemented in seven sectors which would be extended to all other sectors in the long run. The seven sectors in which the e-payment would be introduced are small-scale private banks, textiles, jewellery shops, private hospitals, IT, self-financing educational institutions and construction sector.The one-year programme also envisages construction of a complex that would house all the offices connected with the Labour Department. The government is also planning to set up a labour camp for labourers from other states and also plans to provide  them insurance cover.Tea Fest will be conducted across the state with the partnership between tea-estate owners and representatives of the plantation unions. The main aim of this fest will be to market tea products. The Factories and Boilers wing would organise medical check-up camps for factory workers across the state. Priority inspection and studies on air pollution would be conducted in various factories in the state.Also, 1,000 women would be given self employment under the Sharanya self- employment scheme and 586 self-employment projects would be started in the state under Kesru scheme. Seventy group ventures would be started under the multi-purpose service centres and job clubs.The State Government also announced total computerisation of employment exchanges and new registration facility in web-based portal.  Virtual classroom, skills training academy, construction academy and finishing schools are some of the projects that the Labour Department is planning to implement in the one-year programme.
