New Delhi: Chief Minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday decided to give the state a New Year gift—the expansion of the JD(S)-BJP ministry.
"As a new year gift, I will expand the ministry and appoint new heads of various (state-owned) boards and corporations", he said.
The long-awaited expansion comes as four ministerial berths in the state lie vacant. The ruling coalition partners had been putting off the appointment of chiefs of boards and corporations ever since it assumed office.
On Monday, the JD(S) had suspended senior leader Surendra Mohan and revoked the suspension of Kumaraswamy. The party also revoked the suspension of 38 MLAs who had aligned with BJP to form government in Karnataka early this year.
Mohan was suspended after the rebel faction owing loyalty to MP Veerendrakumar had elected him as president after removing Gowda from the top organisational post.
The rebel MLAs were opposed to the party aligning with BJP to form a coalition government in Karnataka and had campaigned against the JD(S) candidate in the recent Chamundeswari Assembly by-election in Karnataka.
