Kumar Vishwas says he never had an affair with any AAP female member, blames rivals and media
"If they have families, I too have a family. Why did AAP leaders not clarify this in public when I was being targeted," questioned the woman complainant.

New Delhi: Rubbishing allegations of any complaint by a female Aam Aadmi Party member (AAP) against him, party leader Kumar Vishwas claimed that baseless rumours were being spread about him. He denied receiving any summons by the Delhi Commission for Women over any alleged complaint.

He also claimed that the AAP volunteer had filed a complaint in police station saying rumours were being spread against her. "I have filed a defamation case in the matter. She filed complaint against 4 people with names. Her complaint says efforts were made to defame her and no action has been taken till date," he said.

However, the woman in question claimed that all women volunteers should quit AAP to avoid such incidents. "There is a possibility that today I am be targeted, tomorrow someone else could be. I want to tell the women volunteers of AAP that if they want to have a peaceful family life, they should quit AAP," she said.

"There is a photo on social media with my face circled and it's written that during the 2014 Amethi elections where Vishwas was fighting against Rahul, Vishwas slept with a woman volunteer and his wife caught them. I met Vishwas and told him about this. He said that if you're in politics you will have to experience things like these. I tried contacting Kejriwal too, but he didn't respond either. SHO, cyber cell and my area DCP did not investigate the matter despite my complaints," she said.

"If they have families, I too have a family. Why did AAP leaders not clarify this in public when I was being targeted? I'm neither a BJP agent nor Congress's. I have only appealed Kumar Vishwas to give clarification on the matter," she added.

Meanwhile, AAP backed Vishwas claiming that the party had never received any complaints by the woman against him. "The woman never mentioned anything about an illicit affair. She only said she is being targeted on social media," AAP leader Sanjay Singh said.

But the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) latched on the controversy to attack Vishwas following the allegations. "This points to the fact that women members in AAP are not safe. She had to go to Women's Commission despite being a party member. This shows AAP is insensitive to women's cause," BJP leader Sambit Patra said.

Former AAP member and now a BJP leader Shazia Ilmi too, said that action in the case must be taken soon. "The AAP worker shouldn't be pressured. An FIR must be filed," Ilmi said.

Earlier in the day, DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said that the girl has written a complaint letter to Police Commissioner as well as AAP founder and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Commission has sent summons to Kumar Vishwas and asked him to appear before it on Tuesday.

This is not the first time that Vishwas has been caught in the middle of a controversy, In the past too, Vishwas has been accused of passing sexist remarks.
